The HEAD of the diving training department of the Center for Diving and Rescue Service of the Republican Special Purpose Detachment "ZUBR" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Andrei Voitik, told how to properly plunge into the font at a press conference, BELTA correspondent reports.
“It is recommended to take a plunge in specially equipped places with lifeguards on duty at the font. Before swimming in the ice hole, you need to warm up and rub your body, do some intense exercises. You must approach the ice hole in non-slip shoes to avoid loss of sensitivity in your feet and damage to them. When going into the ice hole, you need to be as careful as possible - take into account the possibility of a slippery road. it is best to plunge up to your neck without getting your head wet. Diving with your head is prohibited in principle, as this can lead to a narrowing of the blood vessels in the brain," said Andrei Voitik.



According to him, it is necessary to take into account the fact that when immersed in cold water, breathing increases. "Thus, upon entering, you must immediately try to reach the required depth, while swimming is not advisable. The time spent in cold water is no more than 1 minute. After exiting, it is recommended to warm up the body, rub it with a towel and put on dry clothes. To strengthen the immune system and prevent hypothermia, it is advisable to drink herbal or berry tea,” added the head of the diving training department.

Andrey Voitik also noted that it is forbidden to swim in the ice hole in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication , performing activities involving diving and swimming, giving false alarms, polluting and littering water bodies, gathering in groups at the edge of the hole, going beyond the fence and swimming with children. Children should only be bathed under adult supervision.
