March 6, MINSK. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of a fatal accident involving a drunk driver in Minsk. This was reported to BelTA by the Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, on March 5, at about 10 p.m., a 34-year-old Volkswagen driver, driving near the house 45 on Leshchinsky Street, knocked down a 30-year-old woman. it is reported that she crossed the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. In the hospital, the victim died without regaining consciousness.

At the time of the accident, the concentration of ethyl ALCOHOL in the blood of a man was 1.76 ppm. Previously, the defendant had already been tried for crimes of a property nature and was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for violating traffic rules, including speeding.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated , resulting in the death of a person by negligence) of the Criminal Code. The driver has been arrested. Investigative actions are being carried out with his participation.
