A drunk driver hit a child at an unregulated pedestrian crossing in Brest, BelTA was told by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.
The accident occurred on January 20 at about 18.05. The Renault was driven by a 38-year-old driver who was in a state of
ALCOHOL intoxication (1.9 ppm alcohol). Moving along Krasnogvardeiskaya Street near house No. 4, he ran over a 9-year-old girl who was crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing.
The child was hospitalized with injuries and is being checked.
Previously, the man was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility by the traffic police. The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving a vehicle while intoxicated, as well as refusing to undergo an examination, entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of 100 to 200 basic units with deprivation of the right to drive for a period of 3 to 5 years.
For repeated detention within a year, the violator already faces criminal liability, with confiscation of transport and restriction or imprisonment.
