Drunk driver without a license stepped on the gas while rushing to the store. A verdict has been passed on a fatal accident in the Gomel region
February 25, Gomel. The Gomel District COURT issued a verdict in a criminal case against a person who was driving a vehicle while intoxicated.ALCOHOL intoxication and guilty of the passenger's death, BelTA learned from the regional court.
The fatal accident occurred last autumn. In the Gomel district, a villager who does not have a driver's license got behind the wheel of a car. "Together with a friend with whom he had recently drunk alcohol , they went to the store. On the way, he was moving at a speed of at least 120-130 km/h, lost control, drove off the roadway onto the left shoulder relative to the direction of travel, drove into the left ditch in the direction of travel, where the car overturned. As a result of the accident, the passenger received injuries from which he died at the scene of the accident," the regional court recalled the circumstances of the accident.
The man fully admitted his guilt and repented. He was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, which led to the death of a person. On the basis of Part 4 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony in a settlement. For eight years, he is deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the management of all types of vehicles.
The accused must also undergo compulsory treatment for chronic ALCOHOLISM at the place of serving his sentence.
The sentence has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and protested.
