About 300 residents of Grodno have been sent to labor treatment centers for medical and social readaptation by the COURT of the Oktyabrsky district of the city since the beginning of the year. Deputy Chairman of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Grodno Dmitry Shanin told a BELTA correspondent about this.

“ Since the beginning of the year, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Grodno has received 293 materials from the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Oktyabrsky District Administration of Grodno and the Department of Internal Affairs of the Grodno District Administration about sending citizens to labor treatment centers for medical and social readaptation; 299 materials have been reviewed (taking into account the balance of 2022) . As a rule, citizens were sent to labor treatment centers for a period of 12 months, since the specified period is minimal and most of them were sent for medical and social readaptation for the first or second time,” said Dmitry Shanin.

The Deputy Chairman of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Grodno drew attention to the categories of citizens who are sent to the LTP. “These are citizens who systematically consume alcoholic beverages, as well as narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances with harmful consequences (committing administrative offenses in a state ofalcoholic intoxication or under the influence of other substances falling under the specified list), citizens are obliged to reimburse the expenses spent by the state on the maintenance of children under state support who twice during the year violated labor discipline due to the use of alcoholic beverages, as well as narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances. In addition, able-bodied non-working citizens leading an asocial lifestyle, at the request of the internal affairs bodies, can be sent to labor treatment centers for medical and social readaptation with mandatory involvement in work,” he said.

The deputy chairman of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Grodno noted that the internal affairs bodies are actively working to prevent offenses against citizens of this category. And referral to a medical treatment facility is one of the preventive measures.
