October 9, MINSK . The Investigative Department of the Criminal Investigation Department for the city of Minsk is establishing the circumstances of the accident involving a drunk driver. BELTA was informed about this by the information and public relations group of the USC for the city of Minsk.

The incident occurred on September 16 at around 4.30. A 36-year-old driver in an Audi was driving along Maxim Bogdanovich Street. While entering the roundabout at Bangalore Square, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a BMW that was waiting for the traffic light to clear. The strong impact threw the car off the roadway.

As a result of the accident, a 46-year-old man, a passenger in a BMW car, was injured. He was hospitalized with numerous fractures and is still undergoing treatment . The injuries received are classified as grievous bodily harm.

As it became known, the Audi driver was drunk at the time of the accident. The concentration of ethyl ALCOHOL in the blood was more than 1.6 ppm.

As the driver admitted, the night before he was relaxing with friends at a billiards club and drinking. At about 3.00 he decided to go home by car.

It was established that the Audi car belongs to the accused's cousin. He currently lives in RUSSIA. The relative issued a power of attorney for the use of the car to the offender about a week before the accident.

The driver of the Audi car was charged under Part 4 of Article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle in a state ofalcohol intoxication , resulting through negligence in causing grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. A preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to him.
