19 December, MINSK . The internal affairs agencies are ready to ensure the safety of citizens during the celebration of Christmas and New Year. This was stated at a press conference by the HEAD of the department for mass events of the law enforcement department of the main department for law enforcement and prevention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergei Losich, a BELTA correspondent reports.


"During the holidays, the personnel of the internal affairs agencies and internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are transferred to an enhanced version of service. Police officers will be on duty at the places where events are held. The density of patrols on the streets will increase. Particular attention will be paid to entertainment venues. In addition to the patrols, the situation will be monitored using video surveillance systems. Traditionally, checkpoints will be open with a preliminary inspection of the territory by sappers. "I would like to draw your attention to the fact that difficult weather conditions, reckless driving and improperly chosen speed limits lead to serious consequences," noted Sergey Losich.

The head of the department called on parents to remind children about safety precautions at home, in places of active recreation, when crossing the roadway, as well as about the consequences of fooling around with pyrotechnics. "Unauthorized use of pyrotechnics in public places is punishable by law, including criminal liability," he reminded.

Sergey Losich also pointed out that excessive ALCOHOL consumption provokes certain citizens to commit offenses, including domestic violence. "An analysis of current practice shows that the causes of the absolute majority of registered serious and especially serious crimes against life and HEALTH are conflicts between acquaintances, relatives, and citizens living together, which arose due to excessive alcohol consumption. In this regard, it is planned to implement a full range of measures for the general individual prevention of offenses, especially with respect to persons registered with the internal affairs agencies," added the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
