March 27, Vitebsk. The road situation in the Vitebsk region as a whole is characterized by a decrease in the total number of accidents compared to the previous weekend. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent in the agitation and propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

Last weekend in the Vitebsk region there were 43 accidents with property damage, this time - 29. Eight of them happened in Vitebsk itself.

Traffic police officers detained 11 drivers who drove the car while intoxicated, and 23 people who got behind the wheel without a driving license. For comparison: on March 18 and 19, inspectors identified more than 40 disenfranchised drivers.

Some decrease is also observed in relation to pedestrians - violators of traffic rules. Over the past weekend, more than 150 people were brought to administrative responsibility, a week earlier there were fifty more of them. "21 out of 150 violators were in a state of intoxication , another 55 people were without flickers at night," the traffic police of the Vitebsk region explained.

The state traffic inspectorate urges drivers to choose a safe speed and distance to the vehicles in front. They should also be extremely careful while driving, taking into account the prevailing and constantly changing weather and road conditions in the regions. Pedestrians are strongly advised to comply with the requirements of traffic rules, and at night mark themselves with retroreflective elements.
