July 21, MINSK . Drivers of the Belarusian Railway have prevented 147 cases of injury to citizens since the beginning of 2023. BELTA was informed about this in the press center of the Belarusian Railways.

The problem of citizens' compliance with safety rules at railway transport facilities does not lose its relevance. In January-June 2023, 46 cases of non-occupational injuries occurred on the Belarusian Railway. This is three cases more than in the same period last year. The most dangerous sections are Minsk - Orsha, where 11 cases of injury occurred, and Minsk - Baranovichi (7 cases).

In total, 47 people were injured in the first half of the year, including 33 who were fatally injured. Thanks to the vigilance and professionalism of the locomotive crews of the Belarusian Railway, in another 147 cases it was possible to save the lives and HEALTH of citizens.

“In order to prevent rolling stock from colliding with people, drivers use emergency braking almost every day. Please note that the consequences of emergency braking are potentially dangerous for train passengers and also pose a threat to traffic safety. Sharp braking can lead to a fall, injury, and even more severe, irreversible consequences. Disruption of train schedules also causes inconvenience to passengers,” explained the Belarusian Railways.

The main causes of accidents on the railway are people’s ignorance of basic safety measures. In particular, crossing railway tracks in unidentified places, as well as when there are prohibitive indications of light and sound alarms at equipped pedestrian crossings and crossings, talking on a mobile phone and wearing headphones in a high-risk area. A particular threat is posed by staying at railway transport facilities in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication .

The Belarusian Railways pays great attention to ensuring safety at railway transport facilities. In order to prevent injuries to minors and prevent transport offenses, the Belarusian Railways regularly conducts thematic events and raids, and annually implements a set of organizational and technical measures.

The Belarusian Railways called on citizens to be more careful at railway transport facilities and reminded them of administrative liability for violating the rules for crossing railway tracks or being in the wrong place on them.
