October 17, MINSK . A car on the M1 hit two pedestrians, killing one. BELTA was informed about this by the Investigative Committee.

As the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee clarified, the incident occurred on October 16 at about 21.30. On the 386th km of the M1 highway Brest - Minsk - the border of the Russian Federation near the village of Bykachino, Smolevichi district, a 50-year-old resident of the Vileika district in an Audi 80 was driving from Brest towards the border of the Russian Federation and hit pedestrians - a 45-year-old resident Smolevichi district and a 34-year-old resident of Orsha. They crossed the road from left to right in the direction of the car.

The 45-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene, and his 34-year-old companion was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Both pedestrians were not marked with reflective elements and were in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication , led an antisocial lifestyle. Repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for traffic violations while being pedestrians.

The Smolevichi district department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules, resulting in the death of a person through negligence , causing grievous bodily harm).

The State Traffic Inspectorate urges road users to comply with traffic rules. The most common violations due to which pedestrian participants find themselves under the wheels of vehicles are crossing the roadway in an unspecified place, disobeying regulation signals, failure to mark themselves with reflective elements at night, and being drunk.

“We appeal to all road users: if you see a drunk pedestrian on the road, immediately report it by calling 102. Do not be indifferent to other people’s lives,” the traffic police added.
