April 8, MINSK. The European Union approved the fifth package of economic and individual sanctions against RUSSIA due to the ongoing military operation in Ukraine. This was announced by the Council of the EU, informs TASS.

"The council today decided to impose a fifth package of economic and individual sanctions against Russia," the statement said.

The EU has barred Russian ships from entering its ports and agreed to an embargo on Russian coal supplies, which will come into force at the end of the summer. The European Union also banned the transportation of road transport operators from the Russian Federation and Belarus on its territory, excluding medical and food products, the import of quantum computers, semiconductors, aviation fuel into the Russian Federation and the import of wood, cement, fertilizers, seafood, and ALCOHOL.

Also, transactions are completely prohibited and the assets of "four key Russian banks" are frozen, the names have not yet been published.

In addition, the EU expanded the ban on the sale of banknotes and securities to legal entities in Russia and Belarus. The EU Council expanded the black list for Russia and Belarus, including "officials, businessmen and members of their families", the names will be published later.
