June 9, Vitebsk. In the Vitebsk region, the police have stepped up control over the safety of citizens in places of public recreation. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by Deputy HEAD of the Public Security Police Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Maxim Marchenko.

With the advent of summer, the work of the police has increased, because at this time a large number of people appear in city parks and on beaches near water bodies. Accordingly, law enforcement officers need to monitor the situation in places of mass recreation in order to provide citizens with a pleasant pastime and prevent offenses.

"Additional patrols have been organized in places of public recreation. Raid activities will be carried out here, including checks together with rescuers of recreation areas near water bodies on all comfortable beaches. Police officers conduct preventive conversations with vacationers about safe behavior near the water, ways to preserve personal property offenses," Maxim Marchenko said.

He noted that for swimming in unidentified places face administrative liability. "The places prohibited for swimming include those where it is dangerous to swim due to the bottom topography, currents, the proximity of technical structures and other factors dangerous to humans. It is forbidden to swim in reclamation and technical channels, ponds, flooded quarries, artificial fire reservoirs, treatment facilities, backwaters, places near dams, sluices, dams and other hydraulic structures. Violation of this requirement entails administrative liability under Article 24.42 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the sanctions of which involve a fine of up to 3 basic units (1 BV - Br37)," said Maxim Marchenko .

The deputy head of the public security police also recalled that parks and beaches are public places and they are subject to administrative responsibility for finding citizens in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication and the use of alcoholic beverages. Maxim Marchenko emphasized thatalcohol is one of the main causes of accidents on the water, and to prevent an emergency, policemen, rescuers and OSVOD employees will ensure that lovers of strong drinks do not enter water bodies on city and suburban beaches.

Special equipment will also be at the disposal of law enforcement officers. "In order to maintain public order in places of mass recreation of citizens, foot detachments, representatives of public formations, auto and bicycle patrols, motor scooters are involved. Modern technologies are also used, in particular, a video surveillance system, camera traps, and unmanned aerial vehicles have been introduced. In addition, Police officers also control traffic safety near places of public recreation," Maxim Marchenko stressed.
