What should you do if your job reference is untrue?

It's important to know that this is possible if the employee believes the reference contains false information. According to Belarusian law, a citizen has the right to demand a retraction of information defamatory of their honor, dignity, or business reputation through COURT proceedings. In turn, the person who disseminated such information, unless they can prove its accuracy, must retract it.
 
In the case of a job reference, the employer, depending on the court's decision, will be forced to replace or revoke the document. A citizen who has been exposed to information defamatory of their honor, dignity, or business reputation has the right, in addition to a retraction, to demand compensation for damages and moral harm caused by the dissemination.
