August 25, MINSK . The regional preventive campaign "Pedestrian" will be held from 26 to 29 August in the Minsk region. BelTA was informed about this by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

Since the beginning of the year, 93 accidents have occurred on the roads of the Minsk region, in which 26 people died and 71 received injuries of varying severity. As before, the main causes of accidents involving pedestrians are both violations of traffic rules by pedestrians themselves and failure to comply with traffic rules by drivers of vehicles in terms of passing unregulated pedestrian crossings and providing pedestrians with an advantage in traffic.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 31 accidents involving pedestrians due to the fault of the pedestrians themselves.

For the prevention of road traffic injuries and the prevention of offenses by both the vulnerable category of road users and drivers, from August 26 to 29, a regional preventive campaign "Pedestrian" is being held in the Minsk region. During the campaign, road guards will work out the places of concentration of accidents, dangerous sections of roads and streets of settlements, which are most at risk of hitting pedestrians and cyclists.

The traffic police reminded that if a person driving a vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of road signs or markings, as well as if a person driving a vehicle fails to provide an advantage in traffic to pedestrians, administrative responsibility arises in the form of a fine of 1 to 5 basic units.

In relation to a pedestrian who moves on the carriageway at night without identifying himself with a flicker, penalties in the amount of 1 to 3 basic units or a warning are applied . If his violation of the rules of the road led to the creation of an emergency, then the amount of the fine is from 3 to 8 basic units. In the amount of 3 to 5 base units, a pedestrian is fined if he is on the road in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication . If the violation of traffic rules caused the victim to suffer minor bodily injury or damage to the vehicle, cargo, road surface, road and other structures or other property, the perpetrator is subject to a fine of 5 to 20 basic units.

The State traffic inspectorate strongly recommends that drivers do not exceed the speed limit, keep their distance, be extremely careful while driving and not be distracted, especially near settlements where a pedestrian may be on the road at any time. Pedestrians should exercise caution and vigilance in traffic, especially at unregulated pedestrian crossings. Cross the road in places strictly prescribed by the rules. At night, do not forget to identify yourself with reflective elements.
