The Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the Republic of Mordovia and the Penza Region informs participants in foreign economic activity considering the possibility of exporting grain and its products to the Republic of Kenya that on June 14, 2022, the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR received a letter from the Plant Protection Inspection Service of the Republic of Kenya on phytosanitary requirements of the Republic of Kenya for grain imported from the Russian Federation.
The general conditions for the import of wheat and other cereals are as follows:
First, in the areas of grain production, there must be no stem smut of wheat, durum smut of wheat, wheat nematode, the causative agent of yellow mucous bacteriosis of wheat.
Secondly, lots of exported grain must be subjected to fumigation in order to destroy all types of pests, and information about this must be included in the phytosanitary certificate.
Weed impurities should not be present in the grain, the moisture content of the grain should not exceed 13.5%.
In addition, grain products such as FLOUR and cake can only be imported after the importer has obtained an import permit. Exported products must not contain salts of heavy metals, aflatoxins or other mycotoxins, bacteria.
it should also be borne in mind that there is a limited list of Kenyan wheat and rice importers, which can be found on the official website of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
