The regional agro-industrial complex complies with the doctrine of food security and successfully implements the import substitution program.
The processing industry of the region is represented by a fairly wide segment. About 130 enterprises of the food and processing industry and 150 small workshops operate on the territory of the region, including: 13 MEAT processing plants, 15 dairy plants (10 process MILK), 8 SUGAR factories, 12 vegetable oil factories (and 30 small butter factories), 12 bakeries (and about 100 small bakeries), 3 canning factories, 2 breweries, 3 confectionery factories, a yeast factory, a fruit water factory, 42 enterprises flour-grinding and grain-receiving activities, 8 enterprises of the feed industry, a distillery and two distilleries.
The capacities of enterprises allow processing more than 3.5 million tons of grain, more than 5.5 million tons of sugar beet, 2.5 million tons of sunflower seeds per year and produce 150 thousand tons of bakery products, more than 550 thousand tons of FLOUR, 150 thousand tons cereals, 240 thousand tons of meat (including 90 thousand tons of poultry meat), 25 thousand tons of sausages, 18 thousand tons of animal butter.
For 2021, the food production index was 99.4%.
The volume of production was:
- vegetable oil - 776.5 thousand tons (78.2%);
- drinking milk - 133.2 thousand tons (118%);
- flour – 234.1 thousand tons (98%);
- sugar - 799.9 thousand tons (99.7%);
- confectionery -362.1 thousand tons (104.9%);
- butter - 19.9 thousand tons (121.9%);
- canned fruits and vegetables – 80.7 mln. cans (110.1%);
- compound feed 1,813 thousand tons (105.8%).
The region continues to be one of the leading places in the production of basic products. The region took the 1st place in the Russian Federation in the production of vegetable oil, with a production volume of 776.5 thousand tons (15% of the total Russian volume), 2nd place in the Russian Federation in confectionery with a production volume of 362.1 thousand tons (9% of the total Russian volume ), 2nd place in the Russian Federation in beet sugar with a production volume of 799.9 thousand tons (14% in the Russian Federation), 2nd place in butter with a production volume of 19.9 thousand tons (7% in the Russian Federation).
The Voronezh region fully meets its domestic food needs, is the leading food supplier in the Central Black Earth region and has significant resources to form a significant EXPORT potential.
So, in 2021 per capita it was produced:
meat -117 kg at a physiological norm of 73 kg;
vegetable oil -336 kg at a rate of 12 kg;
sugar -346 kg at a rate of 24 kg;
butter - 8.6 kg at a rate of 2 kg;
cheese -18.5 kg at a rate of 7 kg;
bread products (bread and pasta in terms of flour, flour and cereals 334 thousand tons) - 144 kg at a rate of 96 kg.
The trend in the development of food and processing industry enterprises in the Voronezh region in the near future is an increase in production volumes, an increase in product quality, an expansion of the range, and an increase in export potential.
