The issues of acceptance, storage, transportation and sale of grain from the current year's harvest were discussed by the participants of the meeting held at the site of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region.
The event, which was held in an expanded format for the first time since the introduction of CORONAVIRUS restrictions, was attended by Ivan Baboshkin, Chairman of the Agrarian Committee of the Saratov Regional Duma, Alexander Saninsky, Deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma, Alexander Ratachkov, Chairman of the Regional Association of Employers of the Saratov Region, Deputy Ministers of Agriculture of the Region and specialized specialists, representatives federal supervisory authorities, heads and representatives of elevators and grain-receiving enterprises, grain traders.
“The current situation in the fields of the region allows us to predict the harvest in volumes above the annual average. Potentially, we predict about 4.5 million tons, but more is possible. This, in turn, forces us to pay closer attention to the possibilities of regional storage capacities, ensuring the transportation of grain both on the domestic market and for EXPORT, and its operational certification. The main strategic task is to produce grain, and no less important is to preserve it,” Roman Kovalsky, the chairman of the meeting, deputy chairman of the regional government, the regional minister of agriculture, outlined the main task today.
Deputy Minister Natalya Marievskaya said that:
- 52 grain elevators and grain-receiving enterprises with 3.4 million tons of one-time storage tanks are now operating in the region;
- 7.2 million is the total grain storage capacity, taking into account the storage capacities of agricultural producers;
- total storage capacity has increased by 400 thousand tons over the past five years;
- more than 5.5 million tons are free capacities for the arrival of a new crop.
“The structure of storage facilities in the region is built in such a way that enterprises in different municipal districts are part of the same elevator network and belong to one company, which is at the same time a consignor, which allows the best way to build logistics,” the deputy minister explained.
In the format of an open dialogue, the participants considered the issues of monitoring the technical serviceability of the elevator complex, the readiness of access roads and maneuverable train for grain transportation, discussed the situation on the grain market and the prospects for its implementation.
Having stopped at the work of agricultural producers in the FSIS “Zerno”, the industrial operation of which started on July 1, Roman Kovalsky took the initiative to hold explanatory zonal meetings.
The participants also supported the proposal of the Deputy Chairman to create an operational headquarters for the harvesting campaign in 2022.
