The order to cancel the canceled restrictive measures for rabies in a separate territory of the Kuibyshev region was signed the day before by Governor Vasily Golubev.
Recall that the disease was detected two months ago in a fallen yard cat in the village of Lysogorka, Kuibyshev region. In accordance with the new veterinary rules on rabies, restrictions were introduced on the entire rural settlement, i.e. the villages of Lysogorka, Novikovka, Novospasovka, as well as the farms of Reshetovka and Russko-Sidorovka.
During the quarantine, veterinarians from the Kuibyshev branch of the Rostov Regional Station for the Control of Animal Diseases went around the farmsteads of the rural settlement and vaccinated all susceptible animals, including those who were vaccinated more than 180 days ago. In total, about one and a half thousand animals were vaccinated. These are 791 dogs, 447 cats, 95 cattle, 85 small cattle and 70 pigs.
In the district, together with representatives of hunting farms, veterinarians laid out 11.2 thousand baits with a vaccine for immunization against rabies in wild carnivores. The Veterinary Service has also carried out other planned measures to eliminate the infection in full.
it should be noted that the specialists of the Don veterinary medicine carry out large-scale work on the prevention of rabies in the region. Thus, during 2021, veterinarians vaccinated 350,000 animals against rabies: 179,000 cattle, more than 143,000 dogs and 22,000 cats, and also placed more than 713,000 baits with a vaccine for oral immunization in 254 hunting farms wild carnivores against rabies.
Thanks to this work, the number of registered cases of rabies in the Don is steadily decreasing.
