Over the past five years, the area under berry crops has more than doubled in the region. Now the area of perennial berry plantations in the farms is more than 42 hectares, including 19 hectares - in fruit-bearing age.
A number of state support measures are in place for the development of the berry industry in the region. These are subsidies to support perennial plantings, grants for the development of family farms and Agrostartup. So, in five years, 12 farmers received grants for the creation and development of farms for growing berries. “In addition, within the framework of the educational project of the Russian Agricultural Bank “Farmer’s School”, one of the areas of training in our region was the cultivation and processing of fruit and berry crops,” said the DIRECTORRegional Department of Agriculture and Food of the Ivanovo Region Denis Cherkesov.
As part of a working trip to the Komsomolsky district, Denis Cherkesov visited the farm of Roman Artemiev and discussed the prospects for the development of this area. Roman Artemiev has been growing strawberries in open ground and greenhouses since 2021. The plans are to increase the number of greenhouses, as well as introduce abandoned lands into crop rotation.
As the farmer said , berries are grown on the farm both in open and protected ground. Now, on an area of 4 hectares, strawberries of the Albion and Asia varieties are planted. On this area for growing strawberries, two greenhouses with a total area of 550 square meters were also erected. meters, where the remontant variety "Albion" is planted.
Denis Cherkesov paid special attention to the fact that the farm is engaged in putting land into circulation. The land on which the berries now grow was previously fallow.
“I have been growing berries since 2010, I started in Prokhladny, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. But the weather conditions in this area, due to hail and hot weather, turned out to be unfavorable for growing berries. In 2021, the whole family moved to the Ivanovo region, rented 28 hectares of fallow land near the village of Tyugaevo, Komsomolsk district. Growth was carried out on an area of 6 hectares, in 2022 the first 2 hectares of strawberries were planted, another 2 hectares of berries were planted this year and 2 hectares were prepared for laying next year,” said Roman Artemiev. Local residents are involved in growing and harvesting berries. “About 20 tons of berries have already been harvested this year,” the farmer added. Plans for the future - to put the entire land plot into circulation, increase the number of greenhouses that allow growing berries until October and protect plantings from frost,
it should be noted that strawberries are in great demand, up to 1 ton of berries are sold directly on the farm daily. At the strawberry festival, which took place on July 8 in the village of Podozersky, Komsomolsky district, Roman Artemyev's farm sold 2.5 tons of berries.
