Today, the first in the Rostov region "Farmer Island" was opened in the Don capital. This is a shop-in-shop trading platform (shop in a shop), its shelves sell products of local manufacturers belonging to small and micro enterprises operating on the principle of cooperation.
"Farmer's Island" is being implemented as part of the national project "Small and Medium Enterprises", at the initiative of the SME Corporation. Since mid-December 2021, the organization has launched a pilot to create specially designated shopping areas called Farmer Island in the federal retail chains Magnit and Pyaterochka. To date, 14 Farm Islands have been organized in 11 constituent entities of RUSSIA - in Novosibirsk, Omsk, Ivanovo, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Yaroslavl regions, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Crimea and Udmurtia. By the end of this year, it is planned that the project will cover more than 20 regions of the country.
“The emergence of Farmer's Islands helps farmers gain access to new markets. This is also a good opportunity to directly present your own products to consumers on the shelves of convenience stores, as the format offers entrepreneurs simple entry conditions,” said Alexander Isaevich, General DIRECTOR of the SME Corporation.
In the Rostov region, the first "Farmer's Corner" appeared on the basis of the Pyaterochka retail chain at ul. Taganrogskaya, 114. The operator of the first island in Rostov-on-Don was an individual entrepreneur Alexander Andryushchenko, a manufacturer of bakery products and natural semi-finished products for baking. A wide range of products is also represented by five small agricultural producers. On the shelves of "Farmer Island" are dry-cured sausages and MEAT, cheeses, eggs, dairy products, few vegetables, confectionery, tea and much more. Ready-to-eat signature dishes made according to homemade Don recipes deserve special attention. These are ready-to-eat borscht, noodles and soups that are sold chilled, homemade cutlets, cabbage rolls and dumplings.
“Involvement of large networks in the work of the project can create a new vector for the development of relations between farmers and trade enterprises, as it will give the small agribusiness of the region the opportunity to place their products in federal networks,” said Victor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, “Cooperation within the framework of the pilot project will allow Don producers to sell their goods in stores, and consumers will have access to a wide range of farm products. Moreover, there is now a trend towards the consumption of natural, high-quality, pure domestic products. In general, the Rostov region pays great attention to supporting small agricultural businesses. So, since 2012, grants for the creation and development of farms have been provided to more than 930 farmers in the amount of more than 2.3 billion rubles.”
The outlet of the "Farmer's Island" can be organized anywhere in a large grocery store on an area of 20-30 square meters. m. It works on the cooperative model - its infrastructure is simultaneously used by several farmers who can themselves agree that their products do not compete with each other, but complement each other. Among other things, this approach allows you to share the rent, offer customers the widest possible range of goods. To be placed on the shelves of Farmer's Island, it is enough for manufacturers to have certificates for their products and be registered in the region.
