On April 14, the Department of Agriculture of the Bryansk Region hosted a final meeting on breeding livestock under the chairmanship of Acting HEAD of the Department of Agriculture Sergey Simonenko, which was attended by specialists from all interested services, heads and specialists of breeding farms in the region, as well as representatives of the scientific community.
Over the past years, a technological transformation has been going on in livestock breeding based on new knowledge and scientific developments. The Bryansk region in this regard keeps pace with the times. All innovative developments that exist in breeding have found their application in our region.
Currently, there are 15 breeding farms in the region engaged in cattle breeding: 4 stud farms and 10 breeding reproducers of the dairy direction, 1 breeding reproducer for breeding beef cattle of the Aberdeen Angus breed. The share of breeding cattle is 20% of the total number of cattle in the region. Tribal farms produce 42% of the gross MILK production in the region. Milk yield per cow in 2021 reached an average of 8,000 kg of milk. The highest milk yield per 1 forage cow was obtained at Niva LLC - 10350 kg of milk, Novy Put LLC - 10031 kg, Krasny Oktyabr LLC - 8810 kg.
Elena Potemkina, head of the livestock department of the department, spoke about the procedure for issuing breeding certificates and the main requirements for breeding farms in 2022.
Tamara Starchenko, head of the State Public Institution of the Bryansk Region “Bryansk Regional State Breeding Service”, spoke about the results achieved and the prospects for the development of livestock breeding in the region.
She noted that the positive dynamics of key indicators can be traced from year to year. The breeding stock of dairy cattle in the region amounted to 12,020 heads (+111 heads to the level of the previous year). The proportion of purebred high quality cattle in breeding farms is invariably 100%.
Andrey Emelianenko, Head of the Veterinary Department of the Bryansk Region, made a report on the importance of epizootic well-being in the region.
Professor of the Department of Animal Feeding, Private Animal Science and Processing of Livestock Products of the Bryansk State Agrarian University, DOCTOR of Agricultural Sciences Leonid Gamko spoke about the scientific support and prospects for the development of pedigree dairy cattle breeding in the region.
The meeting was attended by the head of the branch of the breeding reproducer of Bryansk MEAT Company LLC Yulia Sibert, who spoke about genomic selection in the breeding and improvement of beef cattle in the branch of Bryansk Meat Company LLC. As part of the investment project, since 2019, the Bryansk Meat Company LLC has been operating a breeding center for the Aberdeen Angus breed of cattle, a station for artificial insemination of farm animals. The organization's specialists provide services in the field of embryology - obtaining and transplanting embryos, genotyping animals (cattle, pigs, sheep), determining breeding value indices, genetic diseases, etc.
The meeting was fruitful, the speakers noted the positive dynamics in the development of livestock breeding in the Bryansk region and made proposals for its improvement. At the end of the meeting, Sergei Simonenko wished everyone success in their work and the implementation of their plans.
