In the period from 30.08 to 08.09.2021, a meeting of experts of the Convention on the Non-Proliferation of Biological Weapons (BTWC) will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. The program of the meeting includes the following events:

- 30-31 August: Meeting of experts on cooperation and assistance with regard to enhancing cooperation and assistance in accordance with Article X of the Convention chaired by Mr. Kimmo Laukkanen (Finland).

- 01-02 September: meeting of experts to review developments in science and technology in relation to the Convention, chaired by Mr. Kazuhiro Nakai (Japan).

- September 03: meeting of experts on strengthening the implementation of the provisions of the convention at the national level, chaired by Mr. Arman Baissuanov (Kazakhstan).

- 06-07 September: consideration of issues related to assistance, response and preparedness in terms of implementation of the provisions of the Convention, chaired by Ambassador Elena Kuzmanovska (North Macedonia).

- September 08: consideration of issues of strengthening the Convention at the level of institutions, chaired by Ms. Grisselle del Carmen Rodrigues Ramirez (Panama).

The interdepartmental delegation of the Russian Federation, representing the position of the Russian Federation on the issues under consideration, included the HEAD of the International Cooperation Service of the Federal Center for Animal HEALTH (FGBI ARRIAH) subordinate to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR, DOCTOR of Veterinary Sciences Artem Metlin.

The Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction was signed on April 10, 1972 and entered into force on March 26, 1975 in addition to the Geneva Protocol of 1975, according to which only biological weapons were prohibited. . To date, the Convention has reached almost universal membership, with 183 States Parties and four Signatory States.
