Greenhouses of the Saratov region harvest a new crop of vegetables

To date, 1.3 thousand tons of protected ground vegetables have been received, including 1282 tons of cucumbers and 32 tons of other vegetable crops. This is an order of magnitude more than in the same period last year (778.2 tons).
In recent years, the production volumes of greenhouse vegetables in the region fully meet the consumption norms per person and even exceed them.
Now there are 10 greenhouse farms in the region, which are located in Atkarsky, Balakovsky, Volsky, Saratov and Tatishchevsky municipal districts. The largest producers are AO Volga, AO Sovkhoz Vesna, OOO REKhN, OOO Aga Plus and OOO Leto-2002. Since 2015, the greenhouse industry in the region has been showing active growth and development. To date, the total area of ​​greenhouse complexes is 111.3 hectares.
“Local vegetable products are in great demand among the population during the cold season. Consumers are beginning to appreciate the fact that the vegetables grown in our region are environmentally friendly and of high quality,” emphasizes Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, Minister of Agriculture of the region.
