According to the Department of Agriculture of the Tambov region, agricultural producers of the region for spring sowing are provided with seeds of grain and leguminous crops by almost 100%. Now we are buying seeds of late crops - soybean, SUGAR beet, corn, sunflower.
Seeds are checked at the Rosselkhoztsentr in the Tambov region. According to the agency, the tested seeds meet the requirements for sowing quality in all respects.
Every year, the share of the use of domestic seeds in the Tambov fields increases, minimizing import dependence.
To support farmers, there are state subsidies for the purchase of seed material. They are issued subject to the use of elite seeds that meet sowing standards. Such varieties are able to give a high yield.
A branch of the State Variety Commission operates in the region, the task of which is to select for the region widely adapted to adverse factors and highly productive varieties and hybrids. More than 1.5 thousand variety trials are carried out here annually. About 30 crops are being tested on the Tambov lands. These are wheat, rye, barley, oats, triticale, peas, soybeans, sunflowers, sugar beets, corn, chickpeas, lentils, sorghum and others. Every year, the State Variety Commission submits hybrids for variety testing, varieties that give a good, high-quality harvest. They are moving into the domestic market.
“For the sustainable development of regional agriculture, dependence on imported seeds for all crops should be reduced to zero,” says Lidia Bakumenko, Acting Deputy HEAD of the Administration of the Tambov Region, Head of the Regional Agriculture Department. “This enables agricultural producers to obtain consistently high yields and achieve high quality commercial products.”
