On January 25, 2022, Moscow (Crocus Expo IEC) hosted a round table dedicated to the topic “Identification and registration of animals”, where specialists from the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR and the Federal Center for Animal HEALTH made a presentation on the topic “Implementation of labeling and registration of animals kept in farms of all forms of ownership.
The report announced the results and further plans for the implementation of the FSIS VetIS component - Horriot, which was put into trial operation in March 2021.
Using the Horriot component, it is currently possible to enter basic information about the animal (unique number of the animal, description of the marking means, biological species, breed, sex, date of birth, date of importation into the Russian Federation, purpose and place of keeping, information about the owner, data about the parents of the animal) and information about the vaccination. In the future, it is planned to develop functions for registering events about an animal. For example, data on treatment, insemination or calving. The orderly entry of such information will make it possible to organize veterinary registration and labeling of farm animals and prevent the corresponding risks.
At present, the relevance of the topic is due to the ongoing work on the introduction of animal identification by marking and recording them. Also, the Ministry of Agriculture of RUSSIA developed and submitted to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation a draft federal law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in Part of Improving the Legal Regulation of Relations in the Field of Veterinary Medicine”, aimed at regulating relations related to the marking and registration of animals for the purpose ensuring their traceability.
