MILK production in farms of all categories in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 3.7% to 7.3 million tons. Including in agricultural organizations, the indicator increased by 6.4% to 4.9 million tons, in peasant (farm) enterprises - by 1.5% to 564.4 thousand tons.
The main growth factor is the increase in the productivity of the herd and the use of modern technologies in animal husbandry. In addition, as of April 1, 2023, the number of cows in agricultural organizations, peasant farms and individual entrepreneurs increased by 37.7 thousand to 4.64 million heads compared to the same date in 2022.
The average milk yield per cow in agricultural organizations (except for micro-enterprises) for the specified period amounted to 1990 kg, which is 7.5% more than last year. The largest growth in the sector is provided by large dairy enterprises with a livestock of more than a thousand cows. Currently, they account for 44% of milk in the total production of agricultural organizations and peasant farms.
Dairy farming is provided with its own base of breeding resources. The state supports more than a thousand breeding farms, which continue to form a population of highly productive livestock. A new subprogram “Improving the genetic potential of cattle is aimed at accelerating the development of domestic breeding stockdairy breeds” of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture.
Also, in order to ensure stable production volumes, the Ministry of Agriculture monitors the price situation in the milk and dairy products market and promptly responds taking into account the current situation.
