We once again (for the 10th time) came to the Urozhaynoye farm in the Mikhailovsky district of the Ryazan region.
With brothers Sergei and Alexander Penshin, we talked about mustard, marketing, and the general situation in agriculture.
At the time of filming, about 660 hectares of white mustard were sown, the "Seagull" variety, which at one time was brought from the city of Nikolaev (Ukraine).

In connection with the sanctions, the farm has additional difficulties, but business is going on. The geography of deliveries is very wide and primarily focused on exports to Europe. At the same time, farmers are working on all options, up to the reorientation of supplies to CHINA . It should be noted that not only mustard, but also phacelia is exported.

There are five crops in the crop rotation of the farm: lupine, malting barley, phacelia, mustard, wheat.

Mustard goes through several stages of cleaning: pneumatics, sieves, gravity separator, and only then goes to the color sorter.

Urozhaynoye has been engaged in seed production for a very long time. As the Penshin brothers note, one of the main problems of modern seed production is the lack of a clear scheme in the work of this direction. During the Soviet years, both seed originators and nurseries were given subsidies that allowed them to produce better seeds, which significantly increased the yield of the region as a whole. Now very little attention is paid to this area, not to mention the acquisition of expensive modern equipment for seed production.

In addition to the problem of seed production, processing issues were also discussed. Sergey and Alexander note that insufficient attention is paid to this problem, because the same mustard that the farm sells for processing to Europe is returned back many times more expensive. And the country loses the opportunity to receive additional income.
