According to the results of 2021, the Tambov region increased the export of vegetable oil by 16%

According to the Department of Agriculture of the Tambov Region, in 2021 the region exported vegetable oil worth $24.4 million. This is 16.2% more than in 2020.
Oil is sold abroad as part of the implementation of the regional project "Export of agricultural products" of the Tambov region. Over the past year, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Georgia and Armenia bought the most sunflower oil from Tambov producers.
The increase in exports of sunflower oil was facilitated by the modernization and commissioning of new capacities in the oil and fat industry of the region.
“Tambov sunflower oil producers have prospects for further increase in production and, accordingly, development of exports,” says the HEAD of the region, Maxim Egorov. - The production of vegetable oils in the region is already 7 times higher than its consumption. Last year, sunflower sowing exceeded 456 thousand hectares of fields (2020 - 394 thousand hectares), for the first time in the history of the Tambov region, more than a million tons of oilseeds were harvested from the agricultural fields of the region. And there are development prospects. After all, sunflower is one of the most popular, profitable crops. it is the main oilseed crop and brings good profit to producers every year.”
