PIONERPRODUKT.by continues to publish videos from AgroExpedition "Agriculture of Tatarstan". In this video from the Zaripov family apiary, we will show you how to make bees carry honey directly into jars, see how to make a homemade bee drinker and learn how to catch a swarm without climbing trees.
The Zaripov family apiary is located in a large forest surrounded on three sides by a ravine. The locals call it koshan. The place for the apiary was not chosen by chance, it was here that Gafur's parents worked. With the collapse of the collective farm and the sale of the apiary, Gafur was left without a job. I had to make a decision and start my own business in beekeeping: to rent the land where there was an apiary and start working with the bees received from my father. Gafur started with 10 bee colonies and currently there are already 250 bee colonies on the farm.
Gafur's son came up with an interesting idea to attach ordinary glass jars to the hive, the voids of which the bees begin to build up with honeycombs, and then with honey. After the honeycombs in the jar are filled with honey, the jar is removed and left for some time with the lid open so that the bees fly away. After that, the lid is tightly closed and the bank in this form is sent for sale. At the same time, Gafur notes that for this method, the volume of the can does not matter. As a rule, bees build a frame of combs in a jar in 2-3 days.
Also on the territory of the apiary there are homemade drinking bowls for bees. They are a meter post dug into the ground, on which an old samovar is installed, inside of which there is salted water. From top to bottom, a board with a zigzag slot along the entire length is attached to the log. The faucet of the samovar is set up so that water, dripping into a special hollow, begins to flow down the slot. And it is convenient for bees to drink.
For the wintering of bees in the apiary there is a omshanik - this is a dugout-type room with a gable roof, in which the temperature is kept from -2 to 2 degrees in winter. The floor is sand, to absorb excess moisture. The ceiling is wooden - this is necessary to maintain microcirculation of air in the mansion, while there is a ventilation system.
To catch bees during swarming, a cable system is installed in the apiary, which allows you to move swarms (swarm traps) in the vertical and horizontal direction, so the beekeeper does not need to climb trees with a ladder.
