Buckwheat cultivation in the Stavropol Territory is carried out by the only district - Predgorny. Next year, Stavropol farmers intend to increase buckwheat crops: if in 2021 only 0.8 thousand hectares were allocated for this crop, then in 2022 this area will increase to 1.1 thousand hectares.
“Agricultural organizations have sown 48 tons of buckwheat seeds in 2021. The gross harvest of this groats, with an average yield of 9.3 centners per hectare, amounted to about 700 tons. State support for buckwheat producers is provided under the program of the Stavropol Territory "Development of Agriculture". This year, agricultural producers engaged in the cultivation of this crop have already been paid subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of carrying out a complex of agrotechnological works at an average rate of 138 rubles per hectare,” said Elena Tambovtseva, HEAD of the crop production department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
Buckwheat seed contains an average of 50-60 extractive substances, 11-12% protein and 2.5-2.7% fatty oil. In addition, there are a lot of mineral salts in cereals: iron, calcium, phosphorus, organic acids and vitamins B1, B2, PP, E. The cereal culture is highly digestible, nutritious and good in taste, it is of great importance as the most productive source of rutin. Buckwheat also belongs to valuable honey plants.
