The Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region held a video conference with the districts on the issues of insurance of crops and livestock. The farmers were told about the opportunities provided by the state to support those farms that will turn to the agricultural insurance mechanism in 2022.
Taking into account that insurance is an additional financial burden during the period of spring field work, state support is provided to agricultural producers to increase its availability: a subsidy is provided to reimburse part of the costs of paying insurance premiums. The main condition of state support: an insurance contract must be concluded no later than fifteen calendar days after the end of sowing or planting of an agricultural crop, with the exception of perennial plantings, as well as perennial grasses of past years.
In addition, in the year following the year of insurance, for sown areas in respect of which agricultural crops are insured, a multiplying coefficient is applied when providing a subsidy for a complex of agrotechnological works.
“The main goal of state support for agricultural insurance is to protect the property interests of our agricultural producers from possible damage associated with the presence of natural climatic risk factors. The farms of the region work in the zone of risky farming, and the dependence on changeable weather conditions is very high here. Therefore, the institution of agricultural insurance is a more than relevant topic for the region, especially for the Kulunda zone,” said Evgeny Leshchenko, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region and the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NUA) are ready to quickly help existing businesses assess financial risks and make an informed decision on the need to insure crops and animals. For this purpose, in the "Reporting" section of the GIS NSO "State support of the agro-industrial complex of the NSO", applications are collected from agricultural producers of the region potentially interested in insurance. According to incoming applications, insurance organizations prepare substantive proposals to agricultural producers, in accordance with the data provided by the farm, which are sent to enterprises for making a decision on insurance.
Insurance companies also took part in the meeting and consulted agricultural producers online on issues that arose.
