The field day was held at the breeding and seed station of the German Seed Alliance. About a hundred entrepreneurs and heads of peasant (farmer) farms of the region came to the village of Otskochnoye in the Khlevensky district to get acquainted with samples of new and already time-tested hybrids and varieties of wheat, barley, potatoes, corn, peas and other crops.
Specialists of the German Seed Alliance (GSA) conducted a tour of the sites of the demonstration site, spoke about the characteristics of the varieties and the methods of agronomic support necessary for a good harvest.
“At the end of June, a series of similar events took place in our region, dedicated to improving the skills of farmers and the exchange of experience between them and scientists,” said Igor Kremnev, Deputy Governor of the Lipetsk Region. “Science is the engine of production, including agriculture, and today it is simply necessary to be at the forefront of modern approaches to agriculture. Despite the high performance achieved by the agro-industrial complex of the region in recent years, we need to conquer new heights. First of all, to ensure the food security of the region and the country as a whole.”
The selection and seed-growing center of the GSA appeared in the Khlevensky district four years ago. Selection, zoning and production of elite seeds of grain crops, adapted to Russian climatic conditions, became the priorities of the company's activity. Today they are sold not only in the regions of the Central Black Earth Region, but throughout the country.
“This year we have even increased the volume of seed supplies,” said Gennady Eremin, General DIRECTOR of the GSA. - Ahead of us are a lot of new long-term plans for localizing the production of grain and legumes and breeding work directly in the Lipetsk region. The mood of both the German shareholders and the Russian employees of the Alliance in all 56 regions of RUSSIA in which we operate, despite certain difficulties, is very positive.”
According to the HEAD of the regional department of agriculture Oleg Dolgikh, the spring sowing campaign in the region was successful, the harvest is growing quite well. It is too early to say what it will be like, but not less than last year. Including thanks to state support received by Lipetsk agricultural enterprises and farmers.
