The Department of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the Republic of Mordovia and the Penza Region informs the public about the need to comply with measures to prevent and prevent the spread of pathogens of contagious diseases, including plague of small ruminants (PRPR). Due to the aggravation of the PPR epizootic situation on the territory of Mongolia, the threat of the introduction of the pathogen into the territory of the Russian Federation is significantly increasing.
Specialists of the Department, together with specialists from the state veterinary service, annually, in accordance with the Plan, take blood samples from susceptible animals in order to prove the absence of circulation of the plague of small ruminants in the Republic of Mordovia for laboratory research at the FGBI "ARRIAH" in Vladimir. In 2022, 41 blood serum samples were taken from small cattle. Based on the results of the studies, negative results were obtained.
Plague of small ruminants is a transboundary highly contagious animal disease, the spread of which leads to large-scale economic damage, a decrease in the country's EXPORT potential and, in general, the investment attractiveness of the agro-industrial complex, and therefore it is necessary to take comprehensive measures to prevent the introduction of infection into the territory of the Russian Federation.
In order to prevent the disease of small ruminant distemper, owners must:
- provide, according to the requirements of specialists of the state veterinary service, animals for examination, identification and accounting;
- notify the specialists of the state veterinary service within 24 hours of all cases of sudden death or disease of animals, as well as changes in their behavior that indicate a possible disease;
- take measures to isolate suspected cases of distemper of small ruminants, all susceptible animals that have been in contact with suspected cases of distemper of small ruminants, as well as ensure the isolation of the corpses of dead animals;
- comply with the requirements of specialists of the state veterinary service on the conduct of anti-epizootic measures on the farm;
- to comply with the conditions, prohibitions, restrictions due to the status of the region, to buy animals in livestock breeding farms and trade places that are safe for infectious animal diseases, designated by the administrations of municipal districts, in the presence of veterinary accompanying documents;
- prevent mixing of susceptible animals from different herds during their grazing and watering.
