Don agrarians are actively preparing for spring field work

Farmers have already prepared about 80% of the seeds for spring sowing.
In the Rostov region, farmers are preparing for spring field work. Don farms repair equipment, buy fertilizers and seeds of crops.
Recall that in the fall of 2021, about 2.9 million hectares were sown with winter crops on the Don for the future harvest. According to the latest data, 99.6% of winter crops in the Don region sprouted on the Don fields.
“Agrarians of the Rostov region are now actively working on harvesting seeds of spring crops for spring sowing,” said Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the region. – Don farms have already harvested 73 thousand tons or 78% of the total need of 93 thousand tons of spring crop seeds and continue to purchase and refine the seed. In general, it is planned to sow more than 690 thousand hectares in the region in spring with grain and leguminous crops, more than 995 thousand hectares with industrial crops.”
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food notes that the research of seed material is carried out by specialists from the Rosselkhoztsentr, whose departments work in all districts of the Rostov region. In the laboratories of the center, germination, growth energy, and purity of seed material are studied. The work is carried out with the help of special equipment.
To date, 37 thousand tons of seeds have been tested, that is, more than 50% of the harvested ones. All tested seeds are conditioned, meet the requirements established by the standard.
