Volunteers of the regional public movement for the conservation and restoration of rivers and water bodies "HydroEcology" will annually cultivate Sosnovsky hogweed lands in the Moscow region. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Sergei Voskresensky.
“The Ministry has signed a cooperation agreement with the RPM “HydroEcology”. Within the framework of the agreement, the volunteers of the organization will annually mow more than 1.7 thousand hectares of Sosnovsky's hogweed in the Moscow region. In particular, it is planned to free the land from the weed in the Mozhaisk, Istrinsky, Ruzsky urban districts, as well as around the Klyazmensky and Pirogovsky reservoirs and the channel named after. Moscow,” said Sergei Voskresensky.
Earlier, the minister reported that, together with the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Ministry of Property, work was organized to attract convicts to compulsory work to mowing hogweed.
“As part of this pilot launch, 74 people mow hogweed every day in the Moscow region in Pavlovsky Posad, Stupino, Taldom, Kolomna, Podolsk, Serpukhov, Volokolamsk, Schelkovo, Istra, Klinsky and other urban districts of the region,” Sergey Voskresensky added.
The cultivation of land from cow parsnip in the Moscow region is carried out in three stages. Now the last phase of carrying out complex measures to combat weeds in the region is being completed.
