President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions against Russian judges, including Valery Zorkin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court (CC) of RUSSIA. The document was published on the website of the Ukrainian President.
The sanctions provide for the blocking of assets, a ban on trading operations and the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, as well as a number of other restrictions.
In addition to Zorkin, the following judges of the Constitutional Court fell under Ukrainian sanctions:
Sergei Mavrin (Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court); Andrey Bushev; Sergey Kazantsev; Larisa Krasavchikova; Gadis Gadzhiev; Sergei Knyazev; Nikolai Melnikov; Ludmila Zharkova; Alexander Kokotov.Restrictive measures have also been introduced against retired Constitutional Court judges, including Konstantin Aranovsky, Mikhail Kleandrov and Vladimir Yaroslavtsev. At the end of last year, the chairman and judges of the Constitutional Court of Russia fell under EU sanctions.
In total, there are 178 names in Zelensky's decree on sanctions. Among them are four judges (Judge of the Khamovniki Court Diana Mishchenko, Judge of the Basmanny Court Elena Lenskaya, judges of the Moscow City Court Ilya Kozlov and Sergei Podoprigorov), who ruled on the arrest and sentence (received 25 years) to oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia). These judges are already under US and EU sanctions . In addition, Kyiv's restrictive measures have been introduced against judges in Crimea and Sevastopol.
