New EU sanctions against RUSSIA, which include a ban on the EXPORT of luxury cars, electric and hybrid cars to the country, will lead to the growth of the Russian car industry. This was stated in the TELEGRAM channel by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova .

“Except for the inevitable growth of the domestic auto industry, including the use of Chinese components, this cannot lead to anything. We liked the experiment with cheese. Now we need a good auto industry,” she wrote.

In August 2014, a food embargo was introduced in Russia as counter-sanctions. The list of prohibited items includes dairy products.

In May 2022, cheese producers from Russian regions interviewed by TASS stated that they were ready to completely oust European competitors from the Russian market in the next 5-7 years.

According to their estimates, the share of imported cheeses in Russia is about 20-25%, and these are mainly products from Belarus, Argentina and Switzerland.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that in Russia, the biggest decline in production has occurred in the automotive industry - more than 60% - due to violations of obligations by the West.

The HEAD of state added that the current measures to support the automotive industry are enough to increase car production.

After the imposition of sanctions, supplies to Russia were suspended by foreign automakers Volvo, General Motors, Volkswagen, Daimler, Ford.

By the end of 2022, only 14 out of 60 brands remained on the Russian car market. Of these, only three are domestic: Lada, GAZ and UAZ. The rest are Chinese: Chery, Geely, Haval, Jac, Faw, Dongfeng, Changan, Exeed, Gac, Foton, Omoda.
