Britain's threats to impose sanctions on Russian citizens and companies, as well as the media, will provoke another round of tension and a response from Moscow. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing. The broadcast is available on the department's FACEBOOK page.

She noted that such steps do not serve to normalize bilateral relations. According to Zakharova, the decision to respond to the actions of the UK will be made according to the situation, but if the sanctions affect any Russian companies without legal justification, a response will follow.

“If the announced sanctions are so indiscriminately applied to any Russian companies, as the British side stated, <...> this will become a serious obstacle to the development of trade and economic ties, and our response will follow,” the representative of the Russian diplomatic department emphasized.

She pointed out that the UK is undermining its own investment attractiveness by threatening its big business, which actively interacts with Russian economic operators. “Of course, such threats are a violation of human rights,” the diplomat added.
