The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, demanded that the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera recognize an article about her shopping trips to Dubai as fake. Zakharova wrote about this on her TELEGRAM channel.
The publication's publication states that in February 2022, the diplomat was included in the sanctions list and was banned from traveling to Western countries.
“Since then, she has always been wearing superbrand clothes, and she flies to Dubai for shopping!” wrote Corriere della Sera journalist Paolo Valentino.
In the article, Zakharova was compared to Lyudmila Drago, a character from the film Rocky IV.
The diplomat noted that she had never gone shopping in any foreign country.
"Mr. Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Signor Luciano Fontana! Thank you for calling things from Russian manufacturers superbrands in your newspaper. I wear domestic products and buy things in RUSSIA," Zakharova wrote.
According to a Foreign Ministry spokesman, she was in Dubai “exclusively as part of official delegations.”
Zakharova called on the newspaper to recognize the article as fake and publish a refutation.
