Japan has imposed sanctions against 49 Russian companies, organizations and institutions due to the military operation in Ukraine, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Under the sanctions, among other things, were organizations in the aircraft building and shipbuilding industries, including Admiralty Shipyards, Irkut Corporation, Sukhoi, Kazan Helicopter Plant, UAC, USC, MiG Corporation, Tupolev. In addition, Japan's sanctions affected the defense and security sectors - the list includes the Ministry of Defense, including all units in the Russian Armed Forces, the FSB, the Foreign Intelligence Service, Rosoboronexport, Oboronprom, the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod.

In addition, MIPT fell under Japanese sanctions. In 2015, MIPT, Physical Institute named after A.I. Lebedev and the Tokyo University of Electrical Communications signed a memorandum on the creation of the International Alliance of Laboratories.
