Serbia is unlikely to impose sanctions against RUSSIA, President Aleksandar Vučić said on TV Happy.

“Everyone said that Vucic would impose sanctions after the elections. <...> We survived for almost a year. I am still not sure that we will impose sanctions. Were we happy when sanctions were imposed against us, including even Russian ones, no, ”he said. “What, cancel Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, destroy the monuments?” Vucic continued.

Vučić called the condition for the introduction of sanctions against Russia by Serbia Politics

In 1992, the UN Security Council imposed sanctions on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. it included Serbia and Montenegro, the state was formed after the collapse of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The document was adopted in response to the failure of the Yugoslav authorities to implement another resolution, No. 752.

The resolution introduced sanctions that all UN member states had to comply with. He required them:

to prevent the importation into its territory of all products and goods from Yugoslavia; hinder the EXPORT of products and goods to the republic, except for humanitarian aid; prevent Yugoslavia from using commercial, industrial or public funds, or any economic or financial resources; not allow aircraft bound for or flying out of Yugoslavia to take off, land or fly over its territory (except for humanitarian reasons); to prohibit the maintenance or design of aircraft in Yugoslavia, as well as the aircraft it uses; reduce the diplomatic presence in the republic; restrict participation in sporting events on its territory; suspend scientific, technical and cultural exchanges and visits.

The resolution was supported by 13 members of the UN Security Council, including Russia. CHINA and Zimbabwe abstained from the vote.

Serbia, after the start of the Russian special operation, did not begin to impose sanctions against Russia, although the European Union demanded to join them. Vučić stressed that the country wants to maintain an independent policy. Belgrade will do this if there is a threat to the vital interests of the country, he said.
