US attempts to strangle RUSSIA with the help of sanctions do not bring the result they need, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Here you can even <…> listen to international experts and experts in these countries, including in America, who are already saying that something is not working out with these strangulation attempts,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Peskov ruled out the possibility of isolating Russia Politics
Western countries have introduced several packages of sanctions against Russia since the start of the special operation in Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin called its goals the "denazification" and "demilitarization" of the neighboring country, as well as the protection of the civilian population of Donbass from "genocide." At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that Russia is not going to occupy Ukrainian territories.
Western sanctions have affected some sectors of Russian industry, as well as the country's top leadership, including politicians and businessmen. The restrictions also affected their family members. In response, Russia added these countries to the list of unfriendly countries, obliged them to pay for gas supplies in rubles, and imposed retaliatory sanctions.
Against the backdrop of what was happening, the Kremlin said that Western countries were trying to isolate Russia economically and politically, but they were not succeeding. Putin, in turn, drew attention to the cohesion and maturity of Russian society, which, according to him, they are trying to split. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the Western states "enemies" and said that they wish Russia "death". The Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that the restrictions of Western countries harm their own economies.
Washington is not interested in regime change in Russia and wants the country to suffer “real costs” under the influence of sanctions, US Vice President Kamala Harris argued in April.
