The restrictions affect, in particular, the leadership of RUSSIA, including President Vladimir Putin, banks, RDIF, public debt and the mining industry. This option echoes the initiative of Democratic Senator Robert Menendez.

Congressman Gregory Meeks of the Democratic Party introduced another bill on sanctions against Russia in case of aggression against Ukraine. This document accompanies the draft submitted earlier by Democratic Senator Robert Menendez.

Restrictions, in particular, affect:

the leadership of Russia, including President Vladimir Putin; at least three financial institutions from the following list: Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, VEB.RF, Russian Direct Investment Fund, Moscow Credit Bank, Alfa-Bank, Russian Agricultural Bank, Otkritie Bank, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, Transcapitalbank; Russian mining industry ( oil and gas, coal, minerals); Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline: Russian public debt.

“Russia's continued military build-up, both on the border with Ukraine and in Belarus, is an act of aggression as reckless as it is disturbing. While I still hope that diplomacy can ease tensions along the border with Ukraine, the United States , along with its allies, must make it clear that any move by Russian troops to invade sovereign territory will have serious consequences,” Meeks said.
