The NATIONAL BANK of Kyrgyzstan called on the country's commercial banks to strengthen internal control over compliance with international sanctions, the regulator's press service reported.

At a meeting with representatives of commercial banks, the leadership of the National Bank informed them about a new list of UK sanctioned goods that can be used for military purposes. These include electronic components, conductors/semiconductors, electronic integrated circuits, etc.

“In this regard, the National Bank called on commercial banks to strengthen internal controls and measures to prevent transactions with persons and goods on international sanctions lists,” the regulator said in a statement.

In July of this year, The Washington Post wrote that the United States was preparing sanctions against Kyrgyzstan due to Russian assistance. According to the American authorities, as the newspaper wrote, Bishkek supplied dual-use goods to Russian companies, including Chinese drones.

In the same month, the Ministry of Economic Commerce of Kyrgyzstan announced strengthening of EXPORT controls, including for military and dual-use goods. The department noted that this happened after the visit of representatives of the US, EU and Great Britain to the republic in March-April.

Later, the State Committee for National Security of the republic emphasized that the authorities and state-owned enterprises did not violate the sanctions against RUSSIA imposed by the United States and a number of Western countries, but private companies may be involved in this.

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov then stated that there were no prerequisites for imposing sanctions due to violation of restrictions against Russia, since the republic had taken measures to prevent the export of products in violation of sanctions.
