Whether the US will impose sanctions against RUSSIA depends on President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump said during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House. His words are quoted by ABC.

"We'll see what he says. It's up to him. Very disappointed," Trump said when asked whether the new deadline he had set earlier for introducing secondary tariffs on Russia's trading partners — August 8 — still stands.

Shortly before Trump's deadline, special presidential envoy Steve Whitkoff visited Moscow on August 6. After that, Russia and the United States confirmed the possibility of a meeting between the presidents in the near future, probably next week.

After the deadline, Trump threatened to impose secondary sanctions on goods from countries that buy Russianoil , primarily from India and CHINA . Additional duties of 25% have already been announced against India, which the country itself has called unfair.
