The US Treasury has issued a license allowing to curtail operations with nine Belarusian state-owned enterprises and organizations with state participation until June 3. Formally, these companies have been under US sanctions since 2007-2011, but since 2015, these restrictions have been suspended.
Sanctions against Belarusian enterprises in which the state participates in whole or in part have been introduced since 2006. As a reason, the United States called the violation of the freedoms and rights of citizens in Belarus by President ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO and his government.
In 2015, Washington issued a 2G license that temporarily lifted restrictions on nine companies and their subsidiaries:
Belarusian Oil Trading House, Belneftekhim and its American division Belneftekhim usa , Belshina, Grodno Azot, Grodno Khimvolokno, Lakokraska, Naftan, Polotsk Fiberglass. This license has since been renewed.
