The United States announced sanctions against the families of Putin and Lavrov

The United States imposes sanctions against relatives of Russian President and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and members of the Security Council. This is stated in a statement on the White House website.

“Today, the United States, together with the G7 and the EU <...>, is imposing full blocking sanctions against the Russian elite and their family members, including the adult children of President [Vladimir] Putin, the wife and daughter of Foreign Minister [Sergei] Lavrov, members of the Russian Security Council, including former Russian President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The names of relatives of Putin and Lavrov are not given.

The American administration believes that they "have enriched themselves at the expense of the Russian people."
