The European Union is preparing interim sanctions against Belarusian aviation officials and the state-owned Belavia airline due to the scandal with the Ryanair flight. it is reported by Reuters with reference to three European diplomats.

The EU is now working on future sanctions that should hit sectors of the economy that are important for Belarus - the production of potash fertilizers, the oil industry, and the sale of bonds.

However, in order to respond more quickly to the incident with Ryanair, the EU authorities intend to accept an intermediate sanctions package for the time being. According to the interlocutors of the agency, on June 21, the foreign ministers of the countries of the bloc will agree on restrictions against several individuals and two legal entities.
