Prime Minister of Poland proposed to impose sanctions on all members of United Russia

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference that his country had proposed to the European Union to impose sanctions against all members of the United Russia party.

Warsaw voiced this idea at the last meeting of the European Council. According to Morawiecki, Poland considers it necessary to introduce restrictions against all members of "Putin's party", since "he is not the only one responsible" for the situation in Ukraine.

As of 2021, more than 2 million people were members of the party. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of United Russia, said that the Polish prime minister "went crazy" and in response suggested considering the issue of sanctions against Poland's ruling Law and Justice party.

Morawiecki believes that, in addition, it is necessary to limit the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians, and make an exception only for humanitarian visas for those Russian citizens who want to leave the country.
