US President Donald Trump has never hidden his desire to protect his country's economic interests and ensure that other countries buy its oil and gas, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Radio RBC.
This was his response to a question about Trump's shift in rhetoric toward Moscow. The Republican has repeatedly stated in recent days that EU and NATO countries should immediately stop purchasing Russian oil .
"The simplest thing is to force the entire world to buy American oil and American liquefied natural gas at a higher price. And, avoiding any complicated diplomatic tactics, he's actually moving forward," Peskov said.

The Russian president's press secretary also noted that Trump is a businessman and "wants to force Europeans to buy small crayfish for five rubles instead of buying large ones for three," recalling Roman Kartsev's once-famous monologue. "It's a question of economic feasibility," he said.
RUSSIA is successfully redirecting its energy flows to other markets; in addition, a gas contract was recently signed with CHINA, Peskov emphasized.
Addressing NATO members, Trump promised to impose "serious sanctions" against Russia if they did the same. Furthermore, he believed the bloc should impose 50-100% tariffs on China and ban Russian oil. The Republican accused Beijing and New Delhi of being the "primary sponsors" of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow considers Western sanctions illegal , and the Kremlin called US demands that other countries stop purchasing energy resources threats.
